Mistress Centipede
Mistress Centipede was the first youkai that Kagome encountered. She drug Kagome through the well and back into feudal Japan.
Mistress Centipede was able to sense the Shikon Jewel inside of Kagome, and after biting her, she was able to remove the jewel. This lead to Inu-Yasha being reawakened by Kagome, and attempting to save her, but not before Mistress Centipede was able in injest the Shikon Jewel.
Inu-Yasha was able to dispatch Mistress Centipede even though she was powered up by a complete Shikon Jewel, shortly after this battle, she Shikon Jewel was split after Kagome blasted it with an arrow.
Yura of the Hair
Yura is a young looking youkai that comes looking for the shards of the Shikon jewel. She is able to use her hair to bind people and then control them, almost as if they were marionettes.
Yura first comes across Kagome and is able to dump her into the Bone-Eater's Well which sends her back to modern times. Next she runs across Inu-Yasha who has a difficult time dealing with her because of his inability to see the hair she uses to manipulate people.
Yura is able to send a large amount of hair through the Bone-Eater's Well and attack Kagome and Inu-Yasha at the Higurashi's home. Once the duo manages to get back through the well the trace the hair back through the forest and come across Yura's lair, a large ball of hair with many skulls inside.
Ultimately, after a long battle, in which Yura takes some serious punishment, but seems to be totaly unaffected, Inu-Yasha and Kagome realize that she has transfered her soul into a skull. After destroying it, Yura dies.
Inu-Yasha gets hurt pretty badly in this episode
